Grains of Sand: A Film Screening

March 15 @ 1:15 pm - 3:00 pm EDT

Filmed over eight years, Grains of Sand follows two artists and close friends—the filmmaker’s mother and mother-in-law—as they navigate their ninth decade of life. Through intimate conversations, shared memories, and creative expression, the film weaves together a thoughtful and uplifting intergenerational portrait of aging.

This documentary is deeply rooted in Unitarian Universalist values and community. Filmmaker Sarah Goss’s mother, Margot Campbell Gross, is a central figure in the film and served as a UU minister for many years, including an internship at All Souls. She continues her ministry as minister emerita at the Unitarian Universalist Church of San Francisco.

Following the screening, we will engage in an intergenerational discussion designed to open meaningful dialogue about aging—creating space to share thoughts, hopes, and fears across generations.
