Rev. Jessica Hess
Director of Lifespan Faith Formation
Growing up in a one traffic light town Jessica found community at the local church and solace in the cemetery. After graduating college with an art degree there were many turns on the path. Jessica found Unitarian Universalism after the birth of her daughter. She signed a membership book in 2004 and so her path to professional religious educator began even if she didn’t know it then. Fast forward to 2014 after holding almost every volunteer position within the congregation she decided that pursuing Faith Formation work might be the right fit. After traveling to Massachusetts for what would be the first of ten intensive learnings for professional religious educators she would take; she got her first job in the work. Jessica has since served four congregations over the last nine years including one remotely in Rhode Island.
Recently Jessica has been ordained as an Interfaith-InterSpiritual minister and learned a lot about many faith traditions. She has also had training and served as a Chaplain in several settings including hospice. Jessica lives with her artist husband; Ron and Ragdoll rescue cat; Tribble along a walking path in Pennsylvania. Between them they have six adult kids; ten when we count their fabulous partners. There is one amazing grandbaby and another on the way!
Jessica is a new board member at the You Belong Campaign whose mission is “to share messages of inclusivity & advocate for groups who are marginalized in our communities” which is a mission that very much aligns with her Unitarian Universalist values. Jessica recognizes that there are challenges and many learnings ahead but knows that together with love at the center we can journey together in our search for what is true. Faith Formation is a lifelong endeavor and for everyone no matter your age or stage.
