Miles Chapin
Deacon’s President
Miles was born in New York to parents Schuyler Garrison Chapin, and Elizabeth Steinway Chapin. Both families could be described as being Old New York. He attended services and Religious Education at All Souls sporadically in his youth, but always maintained the Family ties with the Church.
He was a working actor for many years having appeared On, Off, Off-Off Broadway, and in many of the East Coast’s best regional Theaters. He has appeared in over 20 Feature Films (including three by Milos Foreman, and one each by Billy Wilder, Frank Perry, Stanley Kramer, George Lucas, and Tobe Hooper) and innumerable Commercials, Industrials, Radio shows, and Voice-Overs.
He is the Author of two books: Tales From The Jungle: A Rainforest Reader; and 88 Keys: The Making Of A Steinway Piano. His journalism has appeared in SAVEUR, GARDEN DESIGN, QUEST, and CIGAR AFFICIONADO magazines, among others, and he won a James Beard Award a few years ago for an article about Luchows, a venerable (and now long gone) German restaurant near Union Square that appeared in SAVEUR.
Miles is currently earning his bread as a residential real estate broker at Brown Harris Stevens, and he’s a proud 30-year resident of Long Island City. He has two grown children: Tess, and Moses.
