Youth Group Coordinator (grades 9-12)
Reports to: Director of Lifespan Faith Formation
Status: Part-time, 3 hours/week 9 months of the year (mid Sept-Mid June)
FLSA: Non-Exempt, $25/hour

Job Summary

Youth Coordinator plans, implements and executes our youth program in line with All Souls mission and in support of our vision to develop confident, resilient and compassionate youth.

General Description:

Under the supervision of the Director of Lifespan Faith Formation, the Youth Group Coordinator has the overall responsibility for managing and coordinating programs for youth in Grades 9 –12. Working collaboratively with the youth, youth advisors, parents, lay leaders, ministry team and staff is the cornerstone of this role. This position requires availability in person on approximately 50% of Sunday mornings, other times as determined in coordination with the supervisor, and ability to travel if the youth participate in a travel program. Planning and coordination work can be completed remotely or on-site.

Areas of Responsibility:

– Engage in support of the youth and their faith formation

– Work with staff and volunteers to organize and support scheduled youth group meetings and activities including social gatherings, end of year worship, learning,social action activities, and group trips.

– Participate in, lead, and/or chaperone youth meetings and activities as agreed upon with the supervisor.

– Uphold All Souls NYC’s Safe Congregation Policies. Maintain confidentiality, except when there is concern for a youth who may be a danger to self or others or at risk of harm.

– Communicate with youth, families and supervisor regularly

– Take part in online UUA youth group leader training as well as in person training

 

Skills/Qualifications Required:

The ideal candidate must be at least 25 years of age and have the following qualifications:
– Deep familiarity with Unitarian Universalism and UU curriculum.
– Experience in working with youth in an organizational setting.
– A knowledge and understanding of the developmental needs of youth.
– A desire to work with and empower youth

– An ability to empower, motivate, delegate, organize and communicate with youth as well as adults.
– Maturity, good judgment, flexibility and a sense of humor.

– Proficiency with technology- Specific platforms/programs will be explained
– Demonstrate competence in multicultural and diversity issues.
