Voices at Work: All Souls Open Choir Rehearsal

This year, we’re offering another way for you to hear the All Souls choir in action! Every second Wednesday of the month, our choir rehearsals will be open for the public. The All Souls Choir is an auditioned sanctuary choir made up of professional and volunteer singers led by Alejandro Hernandez-Valdez, Director of Music and Trent Johnson, Assistant Director of Music.

At rehearsal, you’ll hear music in all stages of the rehearsal process. Sometimes we’re sight-reading, which is reading through a piece of music for the first time. In this stage, our focus is learning notes and rhythms. Sometimes we’re looking at a piece for the second, third, or fourth time. In each subsequent rehearsal, we focus on tightening the ensemble sound and musical expression. The final stage is performance in Sunday worship or Musica Viva NY concert! Music is a vital part of our spiritual world at All Souls – come get a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes rehearsal process!
