This 4-session course teaches you about the fundamental principles of sound and how it interacts with our environment and bodies. You will also discover how to tune into sound to enhance your mindfulness and develop meditation practices around sonics. Our expert instructor\, Jacob Rudin will guide you through various techniques and exercises to help you build your listening skills and deepen your understanding of the power of sound. \nJacob Rudin is a classically trained composer and pianist turned multi-flutist\, producer\, and sound-healing practitioner. SUMMARY:Exploration of Prayer
DESCRIPTION:Exploration of Prayer with Emma Markham\nIn this three-week series we will explore prayer from Christian\, Jewish and Buddhist traditions\, and how we can find inspiration from these ancient contemplative traditions to help enrich our personal spiritual practices. You are invited to bring your personal background with prayer\, as well as your questions and curiosities about what prayer can mean for you to these gatherings where we will learn about\, discuss\, practice\, and create prayer together. This class is free but class size is limited\, please register with Rebecca at rebecca@allsoulsnyc.org. \nEmma Markham is currently a Master of Divinity in Buddhism and Interreligious Engagement candidate at Union Theological Seminary. She has been formally practicing Buddhism for 10 years and has been meditating for 20. She is currently completing a capstone research project related to Buddhism and sexuality and is completing her second unit of CPE in hospice chaplaincy. Emma has led meditation groups at the Church Center for the UN\, NY State Mentoring\, and other organizations since 2019. Emma is a classical guitarist and worked in nonprofit operations before returning to school to pursue interfaith chaplaincy.

She has worked with the United Nations\, Human Rights First\, the Ms. Foundation for Women\, and the Grameen Bank of Bangladesh\, and has participated in a delegation of Zen Peacemakers and Lakota elders in the Black Hills of South Dakota. She is an ordained interfaith minister who bridges the sacred and the secular\, and has sat with hundreds of people at the end of their lives. Barbara speaks on a wide range of topics\, including deepening our sense of meaning & spirituality and mid-career pivots. She lives in New York City with her interfaith family.

This 4-session course teaches you about the fundamental principles of sound and how it interacts with our environment and bodies. You will also discover how to tune into sound to enhance your mindfulness and develop meditation practices around sonics. Our expert instructor\, Jacob Rudin will guide you through various techniques and exercises to help you build your listening skills and deepen your understanding of the power of sound. \nJacob Rudin is a classically trained composer and pianist turned multi-flutist\, producer\, and sound-healing practitioner. Reading sections of the book before each session is optional and encouraged. Each week will involve an overview of the chapters\, pair or small group work\, and discussion. \nLaura Cohen is a student at Union Theological Seminary studying Buddhism and Interreligious Engagement. She practices Zen Buddhism and has recently been exploring the vocation of chaplaincy.
